No Respect at Bondi

Well here's my first post about things wrong with my country, hopefully these rants will help me understand the psychology of the mindless morons that seem to be ever increasingly populating our country, Australia.

About 1 year ago my grandfather died, I inherited a car. A red Holden Gemini 1980's model. This car was parked on Bondi Beach in front of the apartment where I lived. Over the last few months it has been subject to several attacks by vandals. The first was the front seat covers were stolen. These were part of a pack that was valued at around $40 that also included floor mats. So that would roughly valued each seat cover at $5. I hope it was worth it.

A few weeks later all of the pin stripping around the car was ripped off, exposing some of the cars raw metal causing rust. The stripping was broken into little pieces so it couldn't be glued back on.

Again a few weeks later the windscreen whippers were ripped of the car, well done! I hope you guys are really proud of yourself, destroying a dead mans gift to his grandchildren. I hope you had a great time doing it, idiots! Lets hope you don't feel the loss or destruction of something precious to you, idiots!

In between all of these assaults to my property I caught some youths trying to break into my car. It was only 11 o'clock at night on the main strip of Bondi. I was coming back from the bottle shop when I noticed a car pulled in front of mine and a teenager trying to pick the lock. I inverted my beer bottle and shoved him and asked him what he was doing. Then I noticed the car was full of other teenagers, one was getting out to get me. Quick thinking saved the day, I called 000 on my mobile and read the number plate out to the police on the other end. The guys freaked and got back into the car and drove off.

I was advised to give a report to the police, so went I to Bondi Police station. It's funny how the number plate didn't match the car they were driving.

Solution - there should be Police visible at all points in Bondi during Fri, Sat nights when all of the morons come out to play. I shouldn't be able to avoid Police at all on these nights. This did happen once though after the Manly riots and people were still out but not out of control. This simple presence would save thousands of dollars in vandalism every year. I'll save vandalism for another post.

So for now, Mate where is my country?
